Yes…Kumaras do really exist!!!

The Golden Kumara was established in January 2005 as a casual event for a group of low rated players that desired to play a 15 5 tournament against players around their own rating in a friendly, casual format.

Over a period of time, the tournament was dubbed ‘The golden kumara’. The golden kumara is the ‘prize’ for winning the tournament. In reality, it is nothing more than a sweet potato native to New Zealand but you get the satisfaction of a winning a well played tourney.

The Kumara tournament is open to all members of ICC (except those with a (c) or apology note) rated 1500 and below and is held on Saturdays at 15:00 ICC time in channel 253.  The format is a straight knockout and the time control is 15 5 r random colour.

The number of rounds is dependant on the number of entries.
